This new style Ford Model A was the first Ford to use the standard set of driver controls with conventional clutch and brake pedals. By naming this auto his New Model A, Henry Ford decided to forgo the alphabetical order which he previously used, which would have been "U", to name his vehicles because he advertised that "The New Model A is so far advanced from the old model Ts that I had to move back to the letter "A".
